Monongalia Arts Center encourages the cultural growth of Morgantown by providing space for performing and visual arts. Inside the heritage center circa 1913 are two galleries, the Benedum and the Robert M. Davis, and the Tanner Theatre. Throughout the year a variety of performances, exhibits, classes and programs are hosted at MAC.

The Metropolitan Opera opened in 1924 and continues to contribute to the culture of Morgantown. Now on the National Register of Historic Places, the Met hosts a number of theatrical and musical performances. Nearly 1,000 spectators can be seated inside and the building can be rented for special events.
