Coopers Rock State Forest sits 13 mi (21 km) east of Morgantown and 8 mi (13 km) west of Bruceton Mills on 12,713 acres of land which is divided by Interstate 68. The two sides serve different purposes: the north used by WVU for research and training and the south side for public recreation. It is also hosts the annual Mason-Dixon Festival in September, which features the arrival of the Gateway Clipper from Pittsburgh which docks at the park for the celebrations.
